Introducing the ‘Felix Furniture x One Fine Print’ Pop Up Galleria, in Clifton Hill … what a space!
It is not your traditional retail store, more of a space to inspire beautiful interior living spaces in your home.
The ‘collaboration‘ of sorts is a showcase of talented creatives; bespoke furniture pieces from Felix Furniture and limited edition art works from One Fine Print, as well as bringing into the space some of Australia’s best creatives in homewares and all things interiors.
One Fine Print is an online store showcasing curated collection of prints from talented Australian photographers who’s aim is to “bring people beautiful and inspiring photography that they might otherwise not get to experience,” founder Elizabeth Bull says (pictured above) . “There will be no need to trawl through looking for treasure. We’ve created something that until now has been difficult to find: a curated forum of unique, bold, intriguing large photographic prints that people can take home and enjoy.”
“We want people to see how our range of art prints could look in their home. We aren’t interested in displaying them in the traditional gallery format. By partnering with Felix Furniture and other locally made homewares we are able to bring to customers a shop that feels like a home you just want to spend time in,” Elizabeth states.
The two creative businesses met while showcasing their works at DEN FAIR earlier this year. Elizabeth broached the idea of collaborating after seeing how well their ranges worked together after pairing up for a design trade show … the result being the beautiful space showcased here.
Felix Furniture is an emerging Melbourne-based business that specialises in creating bespoke plywood furniture, lead by the design team of Antonia Morrongiello & Ian Anderson (pictured above). They combine traditional and modern woodworking techniques with their ‘made to order’ pieces. Creating works using plywood is a favourite … “I think a lot of people have this automatic assumption that plywood is for construction sites. We are here to show that not only is this material durable and sustainable but it looks amazing,” Antonia states.
The ‘Pop Up Galleria’ is also showcasing some amazing home grown talent to help those who visit the store, really feel like they are stepping inside their own home . The idea of the store, was to have a strong local focus, something that I am particularly passionate about. All the suppliers are Melbourne based and owned businesses. “We really value Australian designed and made products, and we are proud to be putting these local brands forward and showcasing them alongside our furniture,” says Ian.
Antonia’s interior design background was heavily involved in helping to make this inspirational space a reality … the space has ticked all the boxes for me … an incredible store frontage, a spacious interior with the addition of a few walls to create different zones within the store.
Antonia has used a strong colour palette within the sorry to develop a sense of structure, ‘I wanted to tap into the industrial impression of our plywood furniture as well as the rawness of the subject matter in One Fine Print’s photography. Deep, dusty blues and greys give an illusion of depth but also give a feeling of honesty and authenticity’ she says. I have fallen in love with so many pieces on show … and have dropped a few hints for Christmas.
