Sherren Comensoli: A Contemporary Artist Creating Captivating Landscapes
Today, we are thrilled to introduce you to our newest artist Sherren Comensoli, a self-taught full-time Contemporary artist who has been making waves in the art world for the past 15 years.
Sherren's artistic journey began in northeast Victoria, where she was raised before making her way to Melbourne in 1991. There, she honed her creative skills and completed a Bachelor of Design at the prestigious Melbourne School of Design (RMIT). Starting her professional career in Retail Design and Visual Merchandising, Sherren developed exquisite window displays for David Jones' iconic flagship store in the heart of Melbourne's Bourke Street mall. Her talent and expertise then led her to work as a store design consultant for various clients.
Today, Sherren resides in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, in leafy Camberwell with her two children. Since 2006, she has dedicated herself to painting as a full-time artist. Her passion lies in creating beautiful living spaces where her art takes center stage. Sherren's unique approach extends beyond painting; she also serves as an interior styling consultant, utilizing her own artworks to curate personalized and poignant room settings for her clients.
Sherren's paintings predominantly reflect landscapes, capturing the essence of nature in a contemporary translation. From majestic rocks and gum trees to serene ocean views and breathtaking mountain scenes, her preferred subjects evoke a deep connection to the environment. With a masterful technique, Sherren employs multiple layers, gradually building up her paintings to achieve depth and complexity. She fearlessly experiments with her painting style, guided by her instincts and the creative voice in her head. This pursuit of innovation and authenticity allows her to set new trends in the art world.
One of Sherren's notable collections is her Botanical series, which invites viewers to experience a dual perspective, intricately intertwined. Through her artwork, she presents both the "gods view" – a bird's-eye perspective over the land – and the frontal view that allows us to immerse ourselves "within" the environment. The black lines in her paintings represent hidden meanings, mapping out fence lines and borders, emphasizing geographical lines and connections. Meanwhile, the intertwining branches symbolize unity, reminding us that all living things are connected physically or energetically. People, nature, animals, and the land – all interconnected through a neutral energy network. Sherren's intention is to bring the outdoors inside, offering a transformative effect, particularly for those living in city environments who yearn for an escape to nature.
It's worth noting that many of Sherren's painting titles are named after places that hold special memories for her, adding an extra layer of personal significance to her art.
We are incredibly excited to feature Sherren Comensoli and her mesmerizing artworks here at The Interiors Assembly, we have been talking on and off for many years, and now the timing is right! Her ability to capture the beauty of landscapes and translate them into captivating contemporary pieces is truly remarkable. Whether you're an art enthusiast or simply appreciate the transformative power of nature, Sherren's paintings are sure to captivate your heart and spark your imagination.
We are also pleased to offer commissions of Sherren's artworks. get i touch with us if you love her painting style and would love something for your home or office in a specific colour or palette.

So grab a coffee, tea or a champagne if you like ... and take ' 5 minutes with' Aliki Kapoor ... or you may know her as 'Aliki K'.
How did you start as a creative?
I have always been creative … Art was my go to at school, which then led me to further pursue my love for fashion and design, where I studied at
RMIT Melbourne earning a BA in Fashion Design. I then worked my way up as a Designer and Product Manager for brands like Witchery, Jeans West, Pacific Brands , Mossimo, Adidas.
I loved working with colours, fabrics and designing clothing and seasonal
ranges along with Brand logos, and visual merchandising. I was so lucky to have travelled to so many amazing countries & cities that inspired me in so many ways. I was also the one who always had a sketch book with me sketching ideas and design.
I finally decided to take the plunge and venture into creating original art after having my kids… and here we are!
What are your favourite colours you work with when creating your works ?
I love the rich colours of ink navy, blues and greens and also the softness
of pinks, nudes and earthy tones ... also highlights of magenta and lime and lilac.
Who are your ‘go to’ source(s) of inspiration ?
I look a lot on 'Pinterest' at floral images, natural forms of flowers and their
colours. I am also inspired by runway fashion and all the colours and fabrics and textures and am also inspired by sculpture. I find my mood also influences what I will paint.. some days I want flowing pretty and some days I want to create something a bit edgy and abstract. All my originals are very spontaneous and ever changing.
What is on your coffee table ?
Lots of fashion mags !
Who are some of your favourite artists ...
What you collect ?
A lot of fashion and boho dresses !
What is your favourite 'dress code' ...
Again boho dresses, but I’ll also be seen in ripped jeans and a basic tank !
What is your 'Dream' day ...
Being allowed to sleep in ... but theres no chance at the moment with young kids! Coffee, hit the beach, a long lunch wiht friends ... then home to paint & create!
If you had to choose Champagne or Coffee ...
First coffee ... then everything else!
Favourite season ?
Summer definitely ! Summer in Greece even more ...
One ‘fun fact’ about you that we don't know ..
I can do hair really well ! I'm a hairdressers daughter - which is handy – lots of skills learned as kid & always in the salon !
We hope you have loved our catch up with Aliki K !

We have carefully selected these for our collection after checking the incredible details that both works display. We also felt it was lovely to offer two works that work beautifully alongside one another. ( See below as an example. )
The 'Wonderland' exhibition was styled by colour queen Bree Leech and captured beautifully by Lisa Cohen in Antoinette's Melbourne Studio and Gallery in Brighton East, Victoria.
Antoinette shares with us;
"Wonderland is the evolution of my Nebula collection. Nebula's are derived by stars and have vibrant colour at their core. Similarly, botanicals are much the same, with the central heart at the core of its petals. This collection depicts a series of winter blooms, exploding with colour, and blossoming from the heart of the bloom. I love nature and it’s amazing spectrum. Wonderland explores the vibrancy of my favourite winter botanicals."
Below are the Original works on art paper we have available now; 'Japanese Lily' & 'Tiger Lily'.
Japanese Lily
These works can be secured ONLINE NOW and be shipped worldwide. We can also offer private studio appointments ( Canterbury, Melbourne. ) to view these in person. Email us to make a your appointment.

She lives in the beautiful Yarra Valley, Victoria. A large amount of her inspiration for her artworks comes from the immediate surroundings around her home, it's a stunning part of the world! She is honestly one of the loveliest people you will ever meet and we are so happy that her beautiful artworks are going from strength to strength both here in Australia and internationally, being snapped up by savvy collectors.
I asked Joan to share with us her background as an artist …" I have always loved art and have pursued many creative hobbies. When my children were older and off with their friends, I found I was at home on weekends wondering what I was going to do with myself ! .. It all began from there when I decided to dabble with my paints. I started by painting horses for my friends and then moved onto abstracts. I would share my artwork first with family and friends and also more recently on Instagram. This has been a fantastic platform for sharing what I create and love along with increasing my exposure as an artist, connecting me with stockists, galleries and other amazing artists whom I now call friends! I am constantly up skilling and experimenting with my art to push me creatively."
Joan's large-scale botanical works and layered abstract are my favourite styles and I asked more about her creative process ..."I usually start my layered botanical abstracts with acrylic paint. I apply sections of colour on the canvass or linen, trying to put a cool colour next to a warm colour or having complementary colours next to each other. I also vary the size and shapes of my coloured sections to add interest. As areas dry I add overlapping shapes to create some depth and more interest in the painting. Once the background is dry I then 'decorate' with different leaves, trees, shapes and marks."
The one thing that I love about Joan's works as I can always see it 'developing' as new artistic elements move into her artworks. New artworks emerging from the studio have 'mixed media' applied; she is now using oil paint, acrylics and gold leaf in her works. " I love the way the gold leaf adds a bit of shimmer & light in a painting. I’m also using metallic paints, inks and posca pens for fine detailed work. I still create my artworks in the same way and these mentioned 'mixed media details are added as I’m decorating & detailing the work," Joan tells me.
Joan loves to create her artworks in a number of large scale sizes, however her favourite size to paint with is the 1.2 x 1.5 mt size. " It's not too large, unlike the 2 mt + works I also paint and are in high demand! The 1.2 x 1.5 mt I find is large & versatile enough so I can 'create a story' on the canvass. A scene, landscape or memory are easy for me to translate onto a canvas of this size. It’s also a perfect size for a dining room wall, over a sideboard, large sofa, in a hallway or over a bed in a bedroom."
I asked Joan if she has a career highlight, she said that her solo exhibitions have been an amazing experience ... "it's been surreal creating a specific body of work for my 'own' exhibition. Being a feature artist on 'The Block' last year in 2018 was also amazing, and to have two works featured ... I was thrilled."
When asked is there anything exciting happening in the pipeline, Joan shares "
I’m working on a new exciting series which I’m calling 'My Garden of Eden' series which is featuring a bit of figurative work. I’m also experimenting to create more with oil paint. I’ve painted a few with my Langridge oils & the colours and texture are spectacular so I’ll be embarking on more oil paintings when I can."
Thanks for taking the time to chat with us Joan ... now off I go to measure up a wall in my home for one of your Summer Series artworks! xx

We ADORE the new palette of Jud Keresztesi's Original Oil Artworks and are thrilled to have them now available to you!
A little bit about Jud Keresztesi ...
Jud is a Melbourne artist who studied Art and Design at Swinburne and Interior design at RMIT. With a career spanning 15 + years - she certainly has her signature skills and a true eye for colour and detail well and truly entrenched in her amazing Oil artworks. 'Landscapes' and 'Seascapes' are her speciality building up texture and depth mostly with a palette knife and adding her signature 'real bronze' in her amazing works.
We have 2 original artworks works which have just landed online in a rich warm palette with her signature 'real bronze' added to each work ... you can read a little bit more about that below.
Inspiration for these works are from her time spent by the Yarra River as a young child with her family near 'Pound Bend' in Warrandyte, Vic.
I've asked Jud a few questions about her artworks & background ...
Can you share with us a little bit of your background as an artist?
I have been painting professionally for approx. 15 years. I have worked with galleries throughout Australia and America.
We adore your layered / textured oil paintings – can you share with us a little bit about the process when creating these works?
I use many different palette knives to create my art. In my recent bush river series I have used no brush to create my paintings. I go through phases where I feel a brush is not necessary.
My dad gave me two boxes of real bronze from the UK 30 years ago. It’s very special as the boxes are old and the labels on the box are beautifully made.
I grew up on the Boulevard in Kew opposite the Yarra River. The bush and river was my back yard growing up. We would also frequently have family picnics in Warrandyte and Warburton hence my love for the river and bush.
Your new series of works are available in a smaller size – how different is this to painting on a large scale?
Working on a small canvas is very different. It means you have to be more controlled as there is not much space to be free. The design is different too as are the tools.
Being a finalist in the Sunshine Coast Art Prize in 2015 which was opened by the Director of the Queensland National Gallery. Being one of the 40 finalists out of 500 entrants was a special feeling.
Below are there two works currently available ONLINE NOW.
Shipping available Worldwide & we also take commissions for similar works in all sizes.
Born in Italy, growing up in Rome and attending University in Paris…she is of true European culture!
Prior to finishing her studies at Sorbonne University, she started exhibiting in Paris, and also held her first solo exhibition in Rome, Italy in 2006. She is now a full time artist, living her dream, painting professionally since 2011.
Francesca paints, what she describes as ‘abstract landscapes’. Her works are “abstract interpretations of seascapes, beachscapes, or landscapes reinterpreted loosely onto canvas”. I love her use of 23 karat gold leaf on the works, adding that little something extra to a piece, enriching the paintings with a divine luminosity.
She paints from memory … ” remembering a sunset or a sunrise, looking at the earth and sky in the sunshine or after rain, contrasting splurges of red, magenta, orange, yellow, and blues to recall a sunburnt desert, the clearest waters, the softest sand, the brightest sunsets.” Living in Perth gives Francesca an incredible amount of inspiration, with the intensity of light of the Western Australian sunsets, which are truly spectacular.
She exhibits regularly between Hong Kong, Singapore, Europe and Australia. Her paintings adorn the walls of many corporate collections including the Crown Metropol, Ronald McDonald House and Liberty Executive Offices. She is also in high demand of private collectors in Italy, France, USA, Japan, China and Australia, including the Director of the Art Gallery of Western Australia, Dr Stefano Carboni.
Francesca loves living close to the ocean. She starts her day walking her dog on the river shores surrounding her home. She says her walks helps her to ” slow down, observe my environment, take in colours, patterns, textures, and, most importantly, the light, which has a particularly vibrant quality here in Perth”, she finds this the best way for her to ‘refuel‘ her creative inspiration.
With a number of large projects in the pipeline, one of which is for the Crown Hotel for their latest Crown Towers project in Perth, she is very busy! Her works will soon adorn the walls of 340 rooms in the Crown Hotel….Definitely the biggest and most exciting job in her career thus far. She also has an exhibition scheduled in Hong Kong in March 2017, her 6th show in the city.
Francesca says she is “ very lucky to be surrounded by incredibly amazing and talented people who she has met through work, and now call friends. I love sharing experiences with fellow creatives, watching them grow, and love collaborating with local talents in all aspects of the creative industry, from fashion creative to property stylists and interior designers.”
Francesca’s tips for business success….“Dedicate your everything to it to make it happen and get ready to work 100 hours a week! But most of all, always trust your heart and trust your dream – it will become your story.”
Francesca is always looking for new opportunities to expand her exposure across all of Australia, so get in touch for all enquiries with here now! ( email below ) She will also be exhibiting next month in Melbourne ... so keep an eye out for that too!
We are prod to be representing Francesca's art here in Melbourne. We have available works ONLINE NOW for purchase, or you can arrange your own commission at no extra design charge with us now by contacting us via email.

A ‘quick 6’ with Francesca…
The best day of the week is…..Every morning when I get up to go for a walk along the river with my puppy!
My dream holiday destination is ….You will always find me by the beach, no matter where in the world
My biggest ‘pinch me’ moment has been…..When the current Director of the Art Gallery of Western Australia, Stefano Carboni, asked me if he could visit my studio to buy one of my pieces for his personal collection!
The best advice I have ever received is…..Never leave ’til tomorrow what you can do today.
What I’m reading is…..My dad’s recently published novel ‘Rendez-vous in Saint-Germain’
My ultimate indulgence is….Having an ice cream every night after dinner.
